Report received from Com. Krushna Bhoyar, National Secretary, All India Federation of Electricity Employees (AIFEE)

A round table conference on the Electricity (Amendment) Bill 2022 was organised by the Andhra Pradesh State Power Employees Joint Action Committee (APSPEJAC) in Visakhapatnam on Thursday, 25 August 2022. Speakers at the conference refuted the claims of the central government that the amendment to the electricity bill would benefit consumers. JAC demanded that the amendment bill be withdrawn with immediate effect. They said that the real aim of the bill is contrary to the claims of reduction in tariff.

Private company discoms can reduce the fee initially. But once the government-owned discoms are taken out of the race, the private discoms will increase the tariff, JAC said. KS Kalam, a former member of UPSC, attended as the chief guest. In the conference, the leaders of electricity workers and engineers from all over the country—Mohan Sharma, Shailendra Dubey, Abhimanyu Dhankar and Prashant Choudhary—participated and gave detailed information about the electricity bill. It was decided in the conference to create awareness about the new bill among the public and farmers across the country. The conference was organised by the leader of All India Federation of Electricity Employees, Com. Ganpati.
