Report by Kamgar Ekta Committee (KEC) correspondent

Addressing the Martyrdom Conference organised by Northern Railway Men’s Union at Pathankot on September 19, Shri Shiv Gopal Mishra, General Secretary, All India Railway Men’s Federation, warned the government to stop sowing the seeds of privatisation and corporatisation, otherwise it will have to face dire consequences. He asked that if privatisation is so good, then where were all the private employees during the coronavirus pandemic. Our government employees risked their lives to run trains during the pandemic.

The conference was organised to pay tribute to the railway workers who were martyred in the railway strike on 19 September 1968.

Shri Mishra also announced that we have to fight a long battle for the restoration of the old pension scheme, for which we will gherao Parliament in its next session.
