Statement of the Strike steering Committee
Ignoring the demand of the OPS (Old Pension Scheme), the Hon. Chief Minister announced in the legislature the implementation of family pension and gratuity to the families of deceased employees covered by the NPS in accordance with the Center.
Basically, the said announcement was made by the government during the winter session itself. Earlier in 2018, when the strike was withdrawn, the state government had said that a positive decision would be taken in this regard. However the ongoing indefinite strike is for the implementation of the OPS, and since the state government has not taken a stand on this, the indefinite strike will continue, protesting the apathy of the government.
This decision was taken today by Indefinite Strike Steering Committee of the Maharashtra State Government, Semi-Government (Zilla Parishad) Employees, Teachers Union Coordinating Committee in a meeting presided over by the Hon. Vishwasji Katkar that was held in the Thackersey Bhavan, Mumbai.
On the fourth day of the strike, Friday, 17 March 2023, the participation of the employees from all the cadres and teachers in the state clearly shows that the strikers are firm on their demands and will not bow down in the face of any threats from the government.
The Steering Committee salutes and congratulates the striking employees and teachers for their stand to continue the strike.
The Convenor of the Coordination Committee and the Head of the Steering Committee, Hon. Vishwasji Katkar announced that the strike will continue until the old pension scheme demand is accepted.
The Steering Committee has also insisted that the state government should leave its obstinate policy and take a decisive stand.
