During the symbolic strike of 72 hours, the Uttar Pradesh power workers demonstrated strong unity – the Energy Minister gave instructions to the Chairman of the energy corporations for the implementation of the agreement, meaningful resolution of other demands and withdrawal of all the repressive actions taken during the agitation. This was announced by Energy Minister Shri Arvind Kumar Sharma in a press conference with Shri Shailendra Dubey, Convenor of Vidyut Karmachari Sangharsh Samiti, UP, at the field hostel of Jal Nigam after several rounds of talks between the Energy Minister and Sangharsh Samiti. Shri M Devaraj, Chairman of the energy corporations and both the Managing Directors were present in the press conference. The hall of the press conference was packed with office bearers of the Sangharsh Samiti.
The Energy Minister has declared that action will be taken as soon as possible for the implementation of the agreement signed on December 03 with the Vidyut Karmachari Sangharsh Samiti, UP, and for meaningful resolution of other demands. Along with this, the Energy Minister has issued instructions to the Chairman of the energy corporations, Shri M. Devraj, to withdraw all the repressive actions, suspension, expulsion, FIR, etc. taken against electricity workers during this agitation.
In view of the positive announcement of the Energy Minister, the Vidyut Karmachari Sangharsh Samiti, UP, while conveying gratitude to the Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Yogi Adityanath, Hon’ble Energy Minister Shri Arvind Kumar Sharma and expressing respect to the Hon’ble High Court, announced the withdrawal of the strike. The Sangharsh Samiti has appealed to the power workers to return to work in view of the suffering of the public and do all the work to restore the power system at the earliest.
