Technical electricity workers of Himachal Pradesh demand immediate recruitment to end the shortage of technical workers and provision of safety equipment to avoid accidents

On 28.03.2023, the state level meeting of the Himachal Pradesh Electricity Board Technical Employees Union was held at the Union Office, Kalibari, Shimla under the chairmanship of State President Laxman Kapta.

First, condolence was expressed on the accident of the technical worker in Sunni Shimla.

After that, the organization had a detailed discussion on the problems and demands of the technical staff and made a strategy on the upcoming programs of the organization for 2023.

After that, all the office bearers of the organization met the Managing Director of the Electricity Board Pankaj Dhadwal, Director Finance Gopal Chand, Executive Director Manoj Kumar and put the demands of the technical staff in front of them which mainly had the following demands:

  1. After seriously considering the frequent accidents in the field with the electrical technical staff, appropriate steps should be taken after investigating the reasons.
  2. The demands agreed upon in the meeting of the Board Management with the Technical Employees Union should be implemented soon, in which mobile allowance should be given to the substation staff, shift allowance should be given to the technical employees working in the field.
  3. A meeting of the Service Committee should be held soon in which issues related to technical staff should be on the agenda so that they can get the benefit soon. In this, mainly R&P rules must be made for promoting substations from T Mate to ALM and Helper.
  4. Only the right quality safety equipment should be procured for field workers, in which ladder, earth road, safety belt, helmet, gloves should be made available. Along with this, the members of the Technical Employees Union should also be included at the time of purchase so that the same can be purchased according to the need and of the right quality.
  5. Presently the Electricity Board is facing acute shortage of Junior Engineer (Electrical), in which more than 200 posts are running vacant. For this, the union is demanding that Lineman and Electrician should be filled in the 27% quota in the feeding cadre soon, so that the problems related to electricity for the consumers can be redressed on time by meeting the shortage of junior engineers in the field.
  6. The vacant posts of Civil A.E should be filled soon by promoting them from Civil J.E.
  7. There is a huge shortage of technical staff in the Electricity Board, so technical staff should be recruited as soon as possible.

Managing Director Pankaj Dadhwal Ji has assured the union that the demands of the technical employees will be fulfilled soon in the meeting of the Service Committee. Time has been sought from the Government for the meeting of the Service Committee. Service committee meeting will be held by 12th April.

Union State President Laxman Kapta, General Secretary Nek Ram Thakur, Working President Devendra Sandhu, Coordinator Sunil Sharma, Deputy General Secretary Ranveer Thakur, Additional General Secretary Pawan Parmar, Vice President Baljit Singh, Finance Secretary Anil Saklani, Co-Secretary Vipin Sankhyan, Co-Organization Minister were present in this meeting. Chaman Sharma, Accountant Ram Chandra Bhardwaj, Unit Shimla Head Chuni Lal, etc. officials were present.
