AIBEA decides to fight against contractualization and outsourcing of perennial and permanent jobs

AGAINST OUTSOURCING OF PERMANENT AND PERENNIAL
NATURE OF JOBS IN THE BANKS

One of the impacts of the process of globalisation is the casualization of jobs, attacks on permanent jobs, attacks on job security etc. When the maximization of profits becomes cardinal principle of economic activity, the managements have started reducing the staff cost. Hence, the growing phenomenon since last more than a decade is to adopt strategy of outsourcing. Jobs, which are being done by the permanent employees and which are of perennial nature, are being outsourced on contract.

Under the guise of RBI guidelines, many bank managements are attempting to outsource some permanent nature of jobs quoting that those are “non-core activities” and such jobs can be outsourced. Outsourcing is exploitative in character and is a naked unfair labour practice. Hence, this menace of outsourcing must be resisted by all of us uncompromisingly. The attempts are not only unfair labour practices but also contravenes the provisions of the Contract Labour (Regulation and Abolition) Act, 1970.

This 29th Conference of AIBEA that is being held at Mumbai from 13th to 15th May, 2023, deplores the attempts of the bank managements in trying to outsource and contractualise the perennial and permanent nature of jobs that are being done by the permanent employees of the bank. This Conference exhorts all the Bank-wise unions to fight against the contractualisation and outsourcing of permanent and perennial nature of jobs and to resort to organizational actions including strikes at the respective bank-levels. The Conference also decides that AIBEA would also be launching organizational actions against the attempts of various bank managements to outsource the permanent and perennial nature of jobs.
