Letter by National Coordination Committee of Railway Contract Workers Union to Chairman, Railway Board
NATIONAL COORDINATION COMMITTEE OF RAILWAY CONTRACT WORKERS UNION
CITU, BTR BHAVAN,13A ROUSE AVENUE, NEW DELHI
24.01.2024
To
CHAIRMAN /CEO,
RAILWAY BOARD,
RAIL BHAWAN, NEW DELHI.
Respected Madam,
SUB: Clouser of Printing press Howrah from 22.01.24.
REF: PCMM/ER letter No Prg & Sty / Closure/2023 dated 17.01.24.
The National Coordination Committee of Railway contract Worker Union (CITU) expresses deep concern regarding the sudden decision by the administration to close the Howrah Printing Press from January 22, 2024. This decision is viewed as detrimental to the interests of both the workers and the railways.
The Howrah Printing Press plays a crucial role in maintaining a stringent check on malpractices within the railways. It is responsible for printing vital documents such as important forms, working time tables, departmental forms, registers, calendars, and other valuable books essential for financial transactions. In response to the growing demands and to make the printing process more cost-effective, sophisticated machines have been installed in the Howrah Printing Press.
Closing down this printing press and outsourcing the printing of such critical documents raises concerns about potential malpractices within the railways. We urge your intervention to stall the decision made by PCMM/ER to close the Howrah Printing Press. Instead, we request for the utilisation of modern machines to enhance the efficiency of the printing press and ensure the effective utilization of the skilled printing press staff.
Your intervention in this matter is requested to not only safeguard the interests of the workers but also contribute to maintaining the integrity and transparency of the railways’ administrative processes.
Thanking you,
Yours sincerely,
(D. RAMESH BABU)
Convenor, NCCRCWU.
