Punjab electricity employees, pensioners and farmers protest against the Electricity Amendment Bill 2025 and sale of PSPCL land by State Government

Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) employees, pensioners and farmers held a massive protest at Ludhiana against Electricity Amendment Bill 2025 and sale of PSPCL land by State Government on 2nd November and submitted a memorandum to the Power Minister.

The protest rally was attended by the PSEB Engineers Association, PSEB Employees Joint Forum, Bijli Mulazam Ekta Manch Punjab, Association of Junior Engineers, Grid Substation Employees Union, Powercom and Transco Pensioners Union Punjab with the strong support of various farmers and labour organizations.

The various leaders said that with anti-people Electricity Amendment Bill 2025 an important institution like electricity will go into the hands of the capitalists, and the cross subsidy given to the common people and farmers will be abolished and people will be forced to buy expensive power. The jobs of the employees will be in danger. The leaders said that under the pressure of the capitalists, the central government wants to take direct control of the power institutions by passing this amendment bill.

The Joint Forum strongly condemned the anti-people proposal of the Punjab government to sell the PSPCL’s expensive properties spread over hundreds of acres in in Ludhiana, Patiala, Jalandhar and other cities.

The Forum vowed to strongly oppose the sale of the PSPCL’s properties and the Electricity Amendment Bill 2025 through joint struggles.

Protest rallies were held all across Punjab by all Associations and Unions of PSPCL and PSTCL.
