Jammu & Kasmir workers demand restoration of democratic and trade union rights

The Jammu & Kashmir Coordination Committee of Trade Unions (JKCCTU) organised an impressive rally at Polo View Srinagar on the eve of May Day to pay the homage to Chicago martyrs and highlighted the present challenges facing the working class of the country and Jammu & Kashmir especially.

Md. Maqbool, National Secretary AISGEC & President JKCCTU while addressing the rally expressed the solidarity with the struggles of working people around the world and condemned the USA and Israeli aggression on Iran, Lebanon and genocide in Palestine and USA blockade on Cuba. He criticized the Central Government’s anti-people and anti-working class policies. He demanded the restoration of old pension scheme, regularisation and wage policy for all temporary workers like Agandwadi, Asha, contract, casual and other workers. He demanded restoration of democratic and trade union rights.

Other prominent leaders like Moneer Ahmad Khan, Vice President, Shiekh Nazir Ahmad, Assistant General Secretary, Md. Iqbal Dadsaroo, State Secretary, Maimona ji addressed the rally.

In Jammu province, rallies and meetings were held at Jammu and Khatua which were addressed by Gurmeet Singh and Dr Shashu Pal Sr. Vice President and general secretary, JKCCTU and other prominent leaders of Jammu province.
