Report of Uttar Pradesh Vidyut Karmachari Sanyukta Sangharsh Samiti (UPVKSSS)

No Talks for a Year, Harassment Continues — Power Management’s Indifference Worsening Electricity System;
If Struggle Committee’s Suggestions Had Been Implemented, Consumers Wouldn’t Be Facing Today’s Troubles.
The Vidyut Karmachari Sanyukta Sangharsh Samiti Uttar Pradesh (Joint Struggle Committee of Electricity Employees, Uttar Pradesh) has leveled serious allegations against the Power Corporation management, stating that there have been no talks with the Struggle Committee for the past year, while on the other hand, a series of harassing actions against employees continues unabated. This is deteriorating the workplace environment and negatively impacting the electricity system as well.
The Struggle Committee recalled that exactly one year ago, on May 5, 2025, during a phased fast, the condition of the Struggle Committee’s convener, Shailendra Dubey, had become extremely critical. Following this, the management was compelled to hold talks, and a detailed meeting was organized on May 12, 2025. In this meeting, the Struggle Committee had presented a comprehensive and solid presentation for improving the electricity system. At that time, the Chairman had assured a study of it followed by further talks, but no progress has been made on it to this day.
The Struggle Committee says that if serious consideration had been given to the suggestions presented at that time and concrete decisions taken, the difficulties consumers are facing today regarding electricity supply could have been largely avoided.
The Struggle Committee also alleged that instead of dialogue, a suppressive policy is being adopted to create an atmosphere of fear in an attempt to run the electricity system, which is neither practical nor sustainable.
The Struggle Committee has demanded that, keeping in view the scorching heat, the management immediately withdraw all harassing actions to provide relief to consumers and initiate respectful and meaningful talks with the Struggle Committee. At the same time, a concrete action plan should be prepared to strengthen the electricity system based on the previously submitted suggestions.
Under the public awareness campaign ongoing since April 16 in protest against the harassment, meetings were organized on 5 May in Chitrakoot and Banda. These meetings were addressed by the Struggle Committee’s central office-bearers Shri Jitendra Singh Gurjar and Shri Mahendra Rai, who called upon employees to unite and intensify the struggle.
