Workers submitted a memorandum of their demands to the MP
On the 18th of July 2023, the BSNL and MTNL employees of Mumbai organised a “Chalo Santacruz” agitation program against the high-handed action of the BSNL and MTNL managements to evict its employees staying at their quarters. The protest was organised at the CGM office in Mumbai.
The eviction notice issued targeted BSNL, MTNL, DoT and retired employees from their quarters which are located at Powai and Dadar. This is being done in the name of Monetisation. It is important to note that the land on which these quarters are located are prime properties in Mumbai. Giving such a eviction notice to workers is not just a attack on the workers but also their entire families.
The protest consisted of a large number employees and also retired employees. The workers had mobilised their family members in large numbers. Many young children of the workers also attended the meeting. The meeting was addressed by Shri Arvind Savant MP, Com.Ganesh Hinge, CS, BSNLEU, Com.K.G. Mathew, CS, AIGETOA, Com.Sameer Khare, CS, SNEA, Com.Linesh Valvi, CS, SEWA and Com.Yashawant Kekare, DS, BSNLEU, CGM Office, Mumbai.
