Railway administration wakes up after the death of a train manager due to heat wave

Report received from All India Guards Council (AIGC), Deen Dayal Upadhyay Station (DDU)

It has been 76 years since independence but there has been no improvement in the condition of the brake van of goods trains. Our Train Manager (Guard-TM) colleagues are falling ill and even losing their lives.

Railways does not even consider them “Karmayogi.”

There was tremendous anger among the running staff of Deen Dayal Upadhyay station regarding the incident that happened with our deceased brother yesterday. After a condolence meeting for the departed soul in the crew cell, all running staff headed to the DRM building and an important meeting was held in the DRM office in which the DRM, ADRM, Sr. DOM, and Sr. DEE were present. Ranjit Kumar (AIGC Secretary) and Sr. TM D.K. Rai, Gunjesh Kumar (TM/ANH) went as representatives of train managers with unanimous consent. In the meeting, all problems of TMs were discussed and the officials assured to solve all these problems so that such an accident does not happen with any brother in the future.

Issues discussed:

  1. Duty 9+2 hrs.
  2. Arrangement of cold water, ORS, glucose will be made at every station from tomorrow.
  3. Consent was received to make DNR goods working one sided again.
  4. If any brother faces any problem in the brake van or feels unwell, he should immediately talk to the station and stop the van.
  5. Brothers who were ill and have been working in the non-run for a long time and have now recovered will vacate their place for those who are ill at present.
  6. Do not be afraid of the threats of the Controller or Deputy General, you should work according to the rules.
