Indian Bank Employees Federation opposes the recruitment of apprentices instead of permanent workers

The Indian Bank Employees Federation (IBEF) conducted badge wearing on 20 July and zonal protest demonstrations on 23 July to oppose the management’s call for recruiting 1500 apprentices for 1 year at paltry salaries of Rs. 12,000–15,000. In its letter to the management, the IBEF has pointed out that hiring apprentices is a form of contractualisation and exploitation of the country’s youth. Instead, the union has demanded the permanent recruitment of clerical staff. IBEF’s letter is attached below.
