Report by Kamgar Ekta Committee correspondent based on inputs received from Comrade Satyanarayan Rao

Telangana government owns TSTRANSCO, TSGENCO, TSSPDCL, TSNPDCL & TGRPDCL (which it created in March 2026) which handle electricity power generation, transmission and distribution functions for the entire state of Telangana.
As of 31st December 2025, there were huge vacancies across all the companies as seen from the table below. Since then, there have been hardly any recruitment of permanent employees whereas a large number have retired in last 9 months. So, the actual vacancies as of date must be even higher.

These vacancies are obviously not the result of non-recruitment in one single year. They are the result of deliberate policy followed by the state government over last many decades, a policy of crippling the state government owned power sector companies. The same story which has been unravelling across all states of India. The sole objective is to create conditions to aid the privatization of power sector.
As recently as 26th September, it was reported that the Telangana Power Coordination Committee (TPCC) of the state government has decided to disinvest in Telangana Transco. The reports further mention that it is planning to go for a public issue for this and that it has decided in principle to engage Price Waterhouse Cooper as a consulting firm to advise in the matter.
Very clearly all the power sector workers of Telangana need to be extremely vigilant. They need to mobilise public opinion against the plans to privatize power sector by the Telangana government. As a first important step in this direction, they should unitedly demand immediate filling up of all the vacancies in power sector companies of state government.
