Massive Protest Rally of Powermen Announced 1 Day strike on 1st February 2022, & 2 Day Strike on 23-24 February’ 2022

The Electricity Employees of Chandigarh under the banner of U.T. Powermen Union Chandigarh today held a Massive Protest Rally and Demonstration near Electricity office, Sector- 17, Chandigarh.

The Rally was held against the decision of Govt. of India and Chandigarh Administration to Privatize well running and profit earning U.T., Electricity Department Chandigarh beside the implementation of Revision of Pay Scales of the pattern of PSPCL and release the Promotion orders of the employees which were stopped even in spite of availability of Posts and eligibility.

Shri Dhian Singh, President, Shri Gopal Datt Joshi, General Secretary, Shri Amrik Sigh, Service President, Shri Gurmeet Singh, Vice President and Shri Kashmir Singh, while addressing the rally, strongly criticized and condemned the Govt. of India and Chandigarh Administration for approval of the Cabinet note to hand over the department to Eminent Power, a Calcutta based Private company without any protection of Service Conditions, Pay Scales, Allowances and Promotion, including Pension, Gratuity and other terminal benefits strictly as per Govt. Employees, and demanded to protect all benefits without forming any trust of it.

Shri Raghbir Chand, President, Shri Rajinder Katoch, Shri Harkesh Chand, Shri Behari Lal, Shri Harpal Singh and other leaders of the Federation beside Shri Ram Saroop, Shri Sucha Singh and Shri Narinder Chaudhari of Pensioner Association also addressed and support the Powermen’s demands and warned the Administration to stop the process, failing which Federations will join the Powermen’s strike.

The Rally unanimously decided to observe one day strike on 1st February, 2020 in all the shifts and further 2 days strike on 23-24 February, 2022 and also decided that if the Administration decides to hand over the functioning before the said date without protecting interest of the employees then indefinite strike will be observed immediately, in that case the Administration will be fully responsible for any inconvenience to the Public at large due to strike.

The Rally further decided that during the period union will submit strike Notice, Memorandum and march to Governor House and Jotha March to various Sectors, Markets and Villages to highlight the problem faced by employees & public in general in view of privatization of power as the Eminent is the highest tariff Company in India which will adversely affect the interest of the Public.
