Odisha government has finally agreed to fulfil the longstanding demand of state government employees who had held a massive demonstration in September demanding the abolition of the contractual recruitment system and equal pay for equal work.
On 15 October 2022, it announced the abolition of contractual recruitment system forever and grant of permanency to over 57,000 existing contractual employees.
Central and other state governments too must abolish present system of large-scale use of contract workers. All existing contract workers must be regularised and all the must be filled up with recruitment of permanent workers.
