The dharna started at 10 AM on 9 November in front of IDBI Bank Head Office at IDBI Tower. However, police authorities asked to vacate the premises and mentioned that dharna can be observed only at Azad Maidan. All the participants observing the dharna were moved by police to Azad Maidan in a police van around 11 AM.
Industry leaders, Com. S Nagrajan, General Secretary, All India Bank Officers’ Association (AIBOA) and Shri Devidas Tuljapurkar, General Secretary, Maharashtra State Bank Employees Federation (MSBEF) addressed the gathering at Azad Maidan. Com Devidas Menon, General Secretary, AIBOA Maharashtra State Committee, Com. Vishwanathan, President, AIBOA Maharashtra State Committee, Com. Vishwas Utagi, a trade union leader of the financial sector, Smt. Trupti, representing All India Forum Against Privatisation also addressed the gathering.
On behalf of All India IDBI Officers Association (AIIDBIOA), Com. Vithal, General Secretary, Com. S. Ramshankar, Secretary and Com. Jaykala, Secretary, and on behalf All India IDBI Employees Association (AIIDBEA), Com. Ratnakar Wankhede, General secretary, AIIDBEA, and on behalf of IDBI Workers Union (IDBIWU), Com. Bhai Parab also addressed the gathering.
After observing one day dharna, the United Forum of IDBI Officers and Employees submitted a memorandum of demands opposing sale of IDBI Bank to private/foreign players to the MD&CEO at head Office at 4.00 PM.
