Retired employees of Singareni Collieres demand increase in pension

Today, the All India Coal Pensioners Association, who are seeking to increase the pension of retired coal workers and the Singareni Retired Employees Welfare Association, Hyderabad, have taken up a solidarity initiative in Suprabhat Township under Korremula Gram Panchayat of Medchal-Malkajigiri District, Ghatkesar Mandal, Telangana. In this meeting, the Vice President of the Association Alavandar Venu Madhav, General secretary Bupelli Banaiah said that the pension paid through the Coal Mines Pension Scheme, which has been in operation since 1998, is not adequate at today’s prices, and since the pension has not increased since then, they are suffering a lot in old age. According to the Coal Mines Pension Scheme-1998 there is a provision to review and amend once every three years but it is not being implemented. Therefore, they demanded increase in the pension of Singareni and Coal India retired employees.

In this meeting, Association Vice President Alavandar Venu Madhav, General Secretary Bupelli Banaiah, Working Committee Members Bangari Rajaiah, Beeriah, Suddala Lakshmi Narayana G.V. Raji Reddy, Mekala Madanaiah, Rama Raju, Prabhakar, etc., participated along with around 30 Singareni retired employees.
