Coal and Mines Minister assured that CMPDI will remain with Coal India after merger – conversation of AITUC National President Shri Ramendra Kumar with Shri Prahlad Joshi, Minister, Ministry of Coal and Mines, on 25 April 2022

On 25 April 2022, Shri Prahlad Joshi, Minister, Ministry of Coal and Mines, Government of India had a phone conversation with AITUC National President Shri Ramendra Kumar on the issue of the merger of CMPDI and MECL. In the conversation with Shri Ramendra Kumar, Minister Shri Prahlad Joshi assured that CMPDI will remain with Coal India and will not be separated from Coal India Limited.

MECL is being merged with CMPDI.

On this issue, the National President of AITUC said that the service conditions and wages of MECL employees are different, to which the Minister replied that this is still the initial stage and more discussions will be held.

Shri Ramendra Kumar ji also urged the minister to give time to a union delegation that wants to discuss this subject and to ask the Coal India management to make arrangements for the meeting.

Minister Shri Prahlad Joshi said that the time of the meeting will be decided after talking to Coal India.
